The DOC 9440 protein skimmer has been one of the most loved protein skimmers for large tanks since 2008. Its two pump design and extremely high efficiency and efficacy made it a very popular choice for tanks of sizes ranging from 500 to over 800 gallons. It’s now time to introduce a new design of this classic in the form of the 9430. With several important differences, the 9430 will fill the 9440′s shoes using even less power with a simpler, more straightforward mechanical design.
The main difference is that that the 9440′s two pumps have been replaced with a single larger pump. This newer pump on the 9430 can achieve nearly the skimming efficacy of the two previous pumps put together, but at a significant energy savings. (The actual number of watts saved is determined by how the user tunes the skimmer and how much air is pulled into the mix.) An additional plus is that the 9430 only has one pump to clean. Pump maintenance is also cut in half… though given the reliability we build in to our pumps, you won’t be needing to do much of that.
